El Kanemi Warriors defender Ebuka Anaekwe believes the Desert Warriors can shock Kano Pillars in the Northern derby.
Anaekwe and his Warriors team travel to the Pyramid city next Wednesday to face the former Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions in Week 25 encounter.
“Nasarawa United shocked them last two seasons, so that will help us to know that we too can win,” declared Anaekwe, reflecting with confidence to Footballlive.ng.
“We have to approach the game with enthusiasm and excitement. A draw in Kano is good for any team, but our intention in every game is to win.
“For every player facing Pillars is a special game, whilst it is always significant and good to play against Junior Lokosa. We have to play well and win.”
Even with the ambition, Anaekwe is under no illusions as to what faces the team on Wednesday.
“It is difficult to stop Junior Lokosa, he is a good player who does everything well. We must try to stop him by everyone helping out, but Pillars are more than just Lokosa. They have other good players and we will try to stop them too.
“We know it will be a difficult game, that Pillars are a good team, but if things go well then we always score.
“This is a different game in which we will all have to be together, but we will try to have possession, because that is our philosophy.
“We are not thinking about playing away from home, only on playing our game, when we have the ball, to defend all together and to break out on the counter so as to hurt them.”
