Angolan President Commends Team, Looks Forward To AFCON 2025

Angolan President João Lourenço expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Palancas Negras at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, despite their elimination by Nigeria in the quarterfinals.

Following their defeat, which marked the third time they reached the AFCON quarterfinals, President Lourenço acknowledged the team’s efforts and urged them not to be disheartened.

“In this CAN, we did well, but we need to improve, learning from our mistakes,” President Lourenço remarked. He encouraged the players not to lose heart, emphasizing that the country is proud of their achievements in Cote d’Ivoire.

“Don’t be discouraged; the next one will be ours, just depending on all of us, MINJUD, FAF, Palancas, and all Angolan fans,” he added, underscoring the collective effort required for future success.

President Lourenço’s remarks reflect the nation’s support for the team and its aspirations for future tournaments.
