Anthony Okpotu has won his first major silverware at club level, however, by default.
Following the August 30th decision of the League Management Company (LMC) and 20 clubs of the NPFL to “unanimously” botch the 2017-18 season; after 24 round of matches played, Lobi Stars were declared champions.
Okpotu, who has since joined Moroccan side, Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi, scored just one league goal for Lobi before what was supposed to be an intermittent break in June.
The Nigeria International had, previously, never won a silverware for the club side, albeit he remains their all-time top goal scorer.
As a result of the joint decision, Lobi Stars will represent Nigeria in the next season’s CAF Champions League.
