Argentina Celebrate Simon’s World Cup Absence

Date:

Nigeria’s last opponents in Group D of this year’s World Cup, Argentina are celebrating the injury that ruled AA Gent of Belgium winger, Moses Simon out of the Super Eagles’ squad to Russia 2018.

With inferences to the assist Simon got in the 4-0 thumping Nigeria handed Argentina in Uyo and then scored in the 1-1 second led draw away, a section of Argentina’s sports press declared that the Eagles will miss the former Trencin of Slovakia star in Russia.

Argentina media outfit, TyCSports termed the forced absence of Simon in Nigeria’s squad for the World Cup due to injury as cheering news to the national team of Argentina.

TyCSports went a step further to state how important Simon would have been to the Eagles, by citing him as the player with most minutes played for Nigeria during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and finished as second highest goals scorer of the team.

A third scan carried out on the Gent star in England confirmed that he will need three to four weeks to recover from the muscle tear he copped during shooting practice in Uyo.

Argentina, who are also in the same group with Croatia and Iceland, play Nigeria in their third match on June 26, ahead of which TyCSports reported that Simon’s absence will direly affect Nigeria when both teams clash in Saint-Petersburg, Russia.

TyCSports analysed at length, stating: “The team of Nigeria will be low in potency at the World Cup following the exclusion of Moses Simon who scored Nigeria’s only goal against Cameroon and provided the assist that resulted in the third of the 4-0 defeat inflicted on the African champions in Uyo last September.”
