Alex Iwobi’s assist to set up Alexander Lacazette’s equalizer against Liverpool has earned the Nigerian praise from EPL’s all-time goal scorer, Alan Shearer.
Iwobi came on as a substitute in the 68th minute with the Gunners chasing the game after Veteran James Milner struck to give Liverpool the lead just past the hour mark.
The Nigerian’s introduction for Henrikh Mkhitaryan was expected to add some spark to the fire power of the home side and so it did.
On 83 minutes the Nigerian, who has shown a lot of improvement this season, picked out the Frenchman Lacazette, threading a low pass between two defenders, and splitting the Liverpool wall.
Lacazette still had work to do and he showed dexterity and confidence to wheel himself into a 180 degree turn, set the ball perfectly on his favored right foot, and curling it home with aplomb to level the scoreline at 1-1 inside the Emirates Stadium.
In his post match analysis, Shearer who featured for both Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United in his time described Iwobi’s pass as “Beautiful”.
‘It was a beautiful pass and the build up to the goal from Iwobi, beautiful. It was just in the way he picked out the run,’ said Shearer.
