Arsenal youngster, Bukayo Saka has gained a rain of plaudits from one of The Gunners’ icons, Freddie Ljungberg, who says he has been immensely impressed by the youthful wingers’ performances.
Last season, Saka scored 10 goals in total for Arsenal’s under-18 team in England’s Youth Premier League, FA Youth Cup and Premier League Cup, then got his first for the under-23 side last Friday.
Footballlive.ng can report that Saka got his first goal in the English Premier League 2 with Arsenal’s U23s against Liverpool last Friday, much to the delight of the London club’s ex-player and Sweden legend, Ljungberg.
Although Saka has just turned 17 and has not debuted for Arsenal’s first team, Ljungberg is excited about the winger, who got his first a professional contract this month.
Ljungberg, who is Arsenal U23s coach, said he was impressed by Saka’s form against The Reds, as his goal gave the side the lead before he also provided an assist for Joe Willock.
The Sweden icon said: ”Bukayo is a great talent and played very, very well. He’s just going to get better and better, keep his head down and keep on working.
“We’ve given him 15 minutes here and 20 minutes there to help him get used to the tempo, the speed and strength of opponents, and he’s taken it in his stride.”
