Nigerian duo of Chidozie Awaziem and Obinna Nwobodo were full participants in FC Cincinnati’s 4-1 win against Montreal. Cincinnati claimed a 16th win of the league season in Major League Soccer by dismantling their Canadian opposition.
Kevin Kelsey opened the scoring in the 36th minute, putting his left footed shot beyond the goalkeeper following a corner kick scramble. Kelsey thought he won a penalty for his side in the 48th minute, but it was overruled following a VAR check.
Luca Orellano hit a quick double in the 53rd and 57th minute as the home team stretched their lead. Awaziem got his goal involvement in the 71st minute, creating the final goal for Sergio Santos to complete the rout.
Montreal got a counter attacking breakaway in the 81st minute, allowing Fernando Alvarez create a goal for Kwadwo Opoku.
Cincinnati are currently third in the general league standings with 51 points from 27 games, leaving them 8 points off table topping Inter Miami.
