Porto central defender Chidozie Awaziem has hailed his teammates’ work ethic following the 1-0 win over Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
The Super Eagles star who was benched for the entire duration was more than pleased with his team’s effective performance.
“In this team everybody feels important and that shows in the way we play,” he told Footballlive.ng.
“The level we worked at was very high and we closed off all Galatasaray’s options in attack. It was very positive and we are happy with the win.
Porto now have seven points from the opening four games but Awaziem is still sounding a note of caution.
“We have taken an important step but it is a contained joy because we’ve not achieved anything yet.
“Now we must think of our next game against Benfica in the league and we need to prepare for that, but playing against Benfica is a great motivation in itself,” he concluded.
