FC Porto of Portugal defender, Chidozie Awaziem is in a race against time to seal a lofty summer transfer deal, as Dijon of France have tabled a very late offer for his signature.
With the general summer transfer window set to close on Friday, August 31, it would be a close call for Awaziem to seal the move back to France, where he played on loan season at FC Nantes.
Awaziem’s regular outings and top form for Nantes in the past campaign inspired Dijon to make a move for him, and they have already established contact with FC Porto over their hopes of acquiring the defender.
Awaziem was a huge revelation with Nantes last season during his loan spell, but he has struggled for playing time since returning to Porto, despite assurances from their coach, Sergio Conceicao.
Joining Nantes on a permanent deal has also been mooted for him, but Dijon are now the front runners for his signature, as they are the only team in talks with Porto over signing the 21-year-old Super Eagles soft-spoken stopper.
Though Porto are open to the idea of allowing Awaziem leave, they want an outright sale with a percentage of sell on fees, but Dijon are keen on buying him with no future clause.
It is now a matter of time to see if an agreement could be reached before the close of the summer transfer window for Awaziem.
