Nuno Espirito Santo led Nottingham Forest to a 2-0 win over Westham United at the City Ground. This was Forest’s first win (in regulation time) in 7 games.
Forest welcomed back Ola Aina, Ibrahim Sangare and Wily Boly back from the AFCON, but none of the trio made the matchday squad for this encounter.
The first half saw Nottingham Forest dominate the opening proceedings of the game, but nothing to show for their pressure and intent.
With 45 minutes already crossed in the first half and the halftime whistle approaching, Taiwo Awoniyi put his team into the lead as he converted from close range after latching on to a Nicoloas Dominguez pass.
The Nigerian went ahead to reveal an undervest with an inscription on it. The writing was a bible verse (Ecclesiastes 12 v 13). The striker got a yellow card for taking off his shirt at that time.
The second half saw a similar pattern with Nottingham Forest piling on the pressure on their opponents. Kalvin Phillips got a second yellow card in the 71st minute and the on-loan midfielder will now be suspended for the hammer’s next game.
Callum Hudson Odoi finished off the game in the 94th minute, finishing off an Anthony Elanga creation to seal the points for Nottingham Forest.
Nuno’s side currently sit 15th with 24 points, and will travel to face Aston Villa on the 24th of February.
