Awoniyi struggling to impress Liverpool bosses

Date:

Taiwo Awoniyi’s dismal run on loan at Belgian side Gent is gradually snuffing out any chance of the youngster returning to Liverpool any time soon.

On Tuesday night, the forward made his 14th league appearance, coming on as a second half substitute in the 3-1 win over St. Truiden, but failing yet again in front of goal to register.

Awoniyi has gone 12 games without a goal, his last coming in a Cup game in September against Excelsior Virton.

His brace helped Gent to a 4-2 victory, but since then the Nigerian forward has gone pale limiting his chances of a recall to Anfield like Belgian Divock Origi earned recently.

The youngster is on his third loan spell away from Liverpool after his first deal in 2015.
