Super Sand Eagles veteran, Abu Azeez has sent words of gratitude to his teammates, coaches, officials and Nigerians fans for his ability to score 100 goals at the African Beach Soccer Cup of Nations.
Footballlive.ng can report that Azeez was ecstatic, after reaching the milestone and surpassing it, with four goals in the semi-final victory against the hosts, Egypt, after which he reeled out his appreciation.
Azeez scored four goals to take his tally for Nigeria to 103, as he inspired Nigeria to a 7-6 victory in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
Azeez earlier scored twice in Nigeria’s group stage win over Libya on Sunday and once against Tanzania on Monday to take his scoring tally to 99, thereby setting up a decisive contest against the hosts.
The Sand Eagles put aside their problems before the event to beat their hosts and qualify for next year’s Beach Soccer World Cup, becoming the first team to book their place at the 2019 Mundial in Paraguay.
Apart from Azeez’s four, Emeka Ogbonna contributed a brace, while Taiwo Adams scored the other, to reach the climax game on Friday in Sharm El Sheikh.
Azeez stated: “Double celebration for me, qualifying for the World Cup next year in Paraguay and reaching my 100 beach soccer goals. “Such a great feat. Thank you Nigerians for the support. Thank you to my coaches and all my team mates.”
