Brighton & Hove Albion defender, Leon Aderemi Balogun is bound to face fresh competition for a starting spot in the squad, following The Seagulls’ move for an extra man in their back-four.
Footballlive.ng learnt that things are bound to get tougher in the coming days for Balogun, as Brighton are said to be chasing a deal to sign Bolton Wanderers defender, Luca Connell.
Balogun has found himself playing for Brighton only when the preferred regulars in central defence are either injured or suspended, but his club are now in the hunt for 17-year-old Connell.
The lad limped out of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Preston North End with a calf strain but is now subject to serious interest from Brighton.
A bid of £300,000 is rumoured to have been made by Balogun’s club, but they will have to ward off similar interest in the teenager from Burnley.
Ironically, Balogun’s side have already had two attempts to sign the lad turned down before deadline day.
However, Connell is in the last six months of a second-year scholar deal and would be able to move outside the window if Bolton accept the bid by Balogun’s club.
