Super Eagles stars have joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating their national team football partners the Super Falcons after being crown champions of Africa for the 9th time beating South Africa 4 – 3 on penalties.
The Falcons revenged the loss suffered to South Africa in their opening match of the tournament in Cape Coast but got the victory where it mattered most by winning the trophy.
Some of the Eagles players who sent in congratulatory messages include Brighton and Hove Albion defender Leon Balogun who tweeted. “We fly high, no lie, you know this!! Congrats to our Super Falcons on that major achievement!”
Bursaspor of Turkey defender Shehu Abdullahi made a double tweet about the Falcons also congratulating the NFF President Amaju Pinnick on his birthday. “Congratulations Super Falcons. They rule Africa again. Big birthday gift for the President. Amaju Pinnick.” Shehu also appreciated the fans for their support all through the championship. “I appreciate you all for supporting our dear Super Falcons.”
Hapoel Be’er Sheva of Israel midfielder John Ogu tweeted “Congrats to our girl.” While Leganes defense marshal Kenneth Omeruo on Instagram wrote. “Champions of Africa once more.”
