Nigeria National League, NNL side Barau FC has announced the appointment of Salisu Yusuf, the former head coach of Nigeria’s Olympic Eagles, as their new head coach.
Salisu, who also served as an assistant coach for the Super Eagles, was previously rumoured to be interested in the Super Eagles’ top job.
However, he has now been unveiled as Barau FC’s technical adviser on a one-year contract, with an option to extend for an additional year.
The Super Eagles coaching position became vacant following Finidi George’s resignation. and many foreign and local coaches have been linked to the role, including Hervé Renard, Steve McClaren, Eric Chelle, Samson Siasia, and Augustine Eguavoen.
In his new position, the 62-year-old Yusuf is tasked with leading Barau FC to promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
With previous coaching stints at Nasarawa United, Kano Pillars, Enyimba, and El-Kanemi Warriors, Yusuf brings extensive experience and expertise to the role.
