Basketball Star Akaraiwe hails Falcons AWCON Triumph

The Super Falcons’ victory at the 2018 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is drawing attention from fans and fellow female athletes across the Country and 2018 Nigeria Women’s Premier Basketball League MVP Nkem Akaraiwe is the latest name on that roll call.

A 4-3 victory in the penalty shoot out saw Nigeria’s Super Falcons retain the title and exerted their revenge on South Africa after the 1-0 group phase defeat to the Banyana.

 

Akaraiwe shared her message on social media congratulating the players and coaches; and in particular celebrating a successful 2018 for Nigerian Women in Sport.

 

The D’Tigress and First Bank Basketball club Center was part of the historic National Women’s Basketball team that reached the quarter-final of the 2018 FIBA Women’s World Cup.

 

‘I want to say a big congratulations to the Super Falcons for their outstanding performance; congratulations to every member of the team including Ajibade, Ordega, Asisat and everyone, and the Coaching crew too.

‘Your efforts are appreciated and I want to say keep up the good work and keep it up because you are shining examples for many young girls. Also I’m saying a big thank you to everybody out there support Women in sports,’ She said.
