Bayern Munich’s Nico Kovac Escapes Ujah’s Punishment

Date:

Bayern Munich have been miserable for the most part this in the Bundesliga and with the jury still out for Manager Nico Kovac, he needed his players to be on their game, but especially for Anthony Ujah and Mainz 05 not to.

Kovac got his wish granted as Bayern Munich managed a slim 2-1 victory at the Opel Arena, and even the introduction of Ujah will not change the host’s fortunes.

Die Nullfünfer have now not won a league match in the last 6 fixtures and currently sit in 12th position in the table.

On Saturday, they chased the game from the opening minutes and were trailing 1-0 by the 39th minute.

Although a reinvigorated second half opening performance saw them draw level, three minutes after the restart, the soon fell in the 62nd minute to a goal by Thiago Alcantara.

With them on the back foot, Mainz 05 made two quick changes, one of them Anthony Ujah and he was played behind the two strikers.

Unfortunately, the match was closed out with no more goals scored and Kovac will save face with a win, despite the less than impressive performance.
