Former Nigerian international, Baldwin Bazuaye has shared his thoughts concerning the current situation surrounding the head coach role of the Nigerian national team. The Nigerian Football Federation put put a public ad seeking suitable candidates for the role, and reports suggest that quite a number have tossed their hat in the ring.
Bazuaye said its a difficult and intense decision to be made. He said everyone in the hierarchy should be involved in the decision making process, including the minister and the technical director of the federation.
He also added that everyone who applied should be examined to see what value they could add to the national team.
Bazuaye, in his exact words said:
“I think that is a difficult one and it’s a very intense decision that we need to take. And for me, I think we need all the professionals that we need to take these decisions. From the office and outside the office, and people that will come around to support whatever they are doing from the top over there”.
“I think for me, the director of sport Austin Eguavoen, he’s had a lot of experience and everything. I think they should always put him in the table when they want to take a decision and let him give them his own view too. Because he has done so well for the country, and him being there too will help to advice, to see those who are coming. I think the president has his own experience too”
“So that when the minister wants to speak, or call them in the meeting, It’s always let the minister know. I think we have people who are in there who can do a lot of things, who can give good advice that can help out the federation too. I think anybody that applies, we should look at them and see what they can give, what they can offer”.
