The Cheetahs of Benin have resumed preparations for their opening match in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
The highly anticipated match is scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, and it promises to be interesting as both teams slug it out.
Benin previously secured a 2-1 win over the three-time African champions during the World Cup qualifiers in June, and they will be aiming for another triumph.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles are eager to avenge that loss in this important qualifier.
The Cheetahs’ players reported to camp on Sunday and began training on Monday morning. Meanwhile, the Benin Football Federation has finalized plans for the team to arrive in Nigeria on Thursday.
Head coach Gernot Rohr, a former coach of the Super Eagles, has expressed confidence in his team’s chances of securing another win against Nigeria.
“I wish them luck, but certainly not against my team because we want to win again. I’m familiar with the environment, the players, and everything. I’m confident that we will leave Nigeria with a positive result,” Rohr stated.
The Cheetahs will hold their mandatory training session at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Friday, ahead of the match scheduled for Saturday.
