Besiktas is reportedly in discussions to sign renowned coach José Mourinho according to the Turkish club’s vice-president, Huseyin Yucel.
Mourinho, 61, has been without a job since being dismissed by Roma in January.
In a recent interview, Yucel revealed, “About a month ago I met José Mourinho in Istanbul and he listened to our offer. He said he would think about it and give us an answer. He responded after a while and said he would like to meet again in Italy next week”.
He continued, “We [have] met Mourinho’s financial expectations. We are prepared to satisfy his salary demands. We will evaluate his hiring with the board of directors. If we reach an agreement with Mourinho, we will recommend that he includes [ex-Besiktas player] Ricardo Quaresma in the [coaching] team.”
Besiktas parted ways with former Portugal coach Fernando Santos in April after a series of poor results, appointing former youth coach Halim Okta as interim manager for the remainder of the season.
Beskitas, currently fifth in the Turkish Super Lig, is also targeting Di María for a summer transfer. The team will face Paul Onuachu’s Trabzonspor in the Turkish Cup final on Thursday.
