Their advantage was doubled just nine minutes later, as Deniz Undav capitalized on an opportunity to make it 2-0 for Stuttgart in the 56th minute, leaving Leverkusen with an uphill battle to mount a comeback.
However, Leverkusen showcased their resilience and fighting spirit by refusing to concede defeat. They clawed their way back into the match when Amine Adli pulled one back for Leverkusen in the 61st minute, providing a glimmer of hope for the home side.
As the game entered its closing stages, Leverkusen pushed forward in search of an equalizer, and their efforts were rewarded in dramatic fashion deep into stoppage time. Robert Andrich emerged as the hero for Leverkusen, striking a late equalizer in the 96th minute to salvage a valuable point for his side. Piero Hincapie provided the crucial assist, setting up Andrich’s goal and sending the home fans into raptures.
Nigerian duo, Victor Boniface and Nathan Tella were introduced in the second half with Bayer behind, as Xabi Alonso tried to rescue the unbeaten run in the moment.
