Boniface Hits A Double In Leverkusen Win

Date:

Bayer Leverkusen maintained their impressive start to the season with a 3-0 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga while their new striker, Victor Boniface, got off the mark with two goals in the match.

Three of Bayer Leverkusen’s new signings – Boniface, Granit Xhaka and Alejandro Grimaldo – were instrumental to Saturday’s victory.

Xhaka initiated the play by delivering a well-placed ball to Grimaldo, who expertly headed it across the goal for the Nigerian to finish with a powerful header, and marking his first Bundesliga goal.

The goal boosted the team’s morale, evident in their confident and determined play while seeking a second goal.

Former Arsenal captain, Xhaka managed to find the net with a stunning first-time volley, although it was ruled offside.

The game’s tempo escalated, with chances on both sids,s Tomáš Čvančara, who scored twice in the previous weekend, had opportunities, while Boniface continued to pose a threat for the opponents.

Just before half-time, Leverkusen added to their lead, once again Xhaka was involved, setting up Jonathan Tah, who hammered the ball into the net to secure his second goal in consecutive games.

The second half began with a hint of a Gladbach comeback, but Leverkusen swiftly quashed that possibility.

Florian Wirtz displayed his skill by evading defenders and then setting up Boniface for his second goal of the match.

The Nigerian striker stretched to poke the ball past the goalkeeper, cementing a convincing 3-0 victory for Bayer Leverkusen.
