Bordeaux Officially Unveil Samuel Kalu

Date:

Girondins-Bordeaux of France have officially unveiled Samuel Kalu as their latest summer signing, after agreeing for the winger’s transfer from KAA Gent of Belgium.

The 20-year-old Kalu signed a five-year contract with the former club of ex-Super Eagles attacker, Kalu Uche, after the Ligue 1 side doled out €8m to snatch him from Gent, where he still had two years remaining on his contract.

Before moving to Bordeaux, Kalu scored seven goals in 32 appearances for Gent in the Belgian Juliper League last season.

Bordeaux, who had earlier announced at the weekend that a deal to sign the 20-year-old was at hand, also confirmed that Kalu will wear jersey number 10 that was donned last season by Brazilian whiz kid, Malcolm.

Kalu’s former club, Gent gave Kalu as splendid send-off message and thanked him for his immense contributions to the various successes they had during his time in the team.

Kalu signed a contract with Gent in January 2017, after which he hit 10 goals and made 16 assists in 55 games, all of which The Buffalos believe will never be forgotten by their fans.

Gent added: “Samuel Kalu leaves KAA Gent after one and a half season and moves to Girondins de Bordeaux where he signs a contract for five seasons.

“We wish Samuel a successful continuation of his career in the Ligue 1 and thank him for his time with us. Good luck Samuel!”
