Fenerbahce defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel is uncertain to participate in Nigeria’s upcoming international matches in September due to an injury.
The defender missed Fenerbahce’s 5-0 league game victory against Rizespor on Sunday after being left out of the squad.
Osayi-Samuel had featured in the club’s first two league games of the season but suffered an ankle injury in their last match, according to reports
As the 26-year-old works on his recovery, there are concerns that he may not be fit in time for Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. Nigeria will face Benin Republic on September 7 in Uyo, followed by a match against Rwanda on September 10 in Kigali.
Bright Osayi-Samuel is key to the Super Eagles defense along side Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina. Both players were key in helping the Super Eagles reach the final of the 2023 AFCON.
