Brighton’s Coach Ready To Receive Balogun

Date:

Brighton Hove Albion boss, Chris Hughton has disclosed that he is expecting summer signing, Leon Aderemi Balogun to join up with the squad on Tuesday, after he was handed an extended break due to his outings with the Super Eagles at the World Cup in Russia.

Balogun, who penned a two-year deal with Brighton early in the off-season after choosing not to extend his contract with SV Mainz of Germany, went the distance in all three group matches the Eagles played at Russia 2018 World Cup.

The he highlight of his performances in Russia was winning a penalty in the last group tie against Argentina, which was converted by Victor Moses, and he will now aim to replicate such form with The Seagulls.

Apart from Balogun, Australia’s goalkeeper Mathew Ryan and Colombia’s Jose Izquierdo were also part of Brighton’s World Cup campaigners who are all being expected back at the club in the coming days.

Hughton disclosed: ”The three players who went to the tournament are back this week – Leon comes back on Tuesday, Maty is back on Wednesday.

”Jose has an extended period of time because his country reached the knockout stages, so he will be back with the group next Monday.

”They’ll all come back in good shape but once the season starts you want them to be up to speed, so for us it’s about making sure that they will be.”
