Broos Congratulates Team’s Fighting Spirit

Date:

South African gaffer, Hugo Broos has said that the 1-1 result was a fair reflection of the game that was played between Nigeria and South Africa. Broos mentioned that both teams had their chances to have won the game.

The 72 year old congratulated his team for executing a tough game, highlighting that the team had a lot of travel time before arriving in Nigeria. He expressed his pride in the team for doing well against a tough opposition.

“First of all, i think the result is correct, a draw. We had our chances and Nigeria had their chances. But i have to congratulate my players. As you know, we had a terrible travel to Nigeria. We were only in bed at 2am on Thursday morning, we were 20 hours on the way. I can only be proud about my players. It was a tough game against a tough team, but we had some chances”, said the gaffer.

Broos then mentioned that his team missed a few chances, the team were unlucky to concede just after the halftime break. He also commended team for fighting and holding on the draw till the end.

“We could’ve scored 2-0, the way the game was played. It was a bit unlucky to receive a goal two minutes after the half started. And you know, it will be difficult. But again, we fought for it from the 46th till the 95th minute, and again i think the result is correct”, Broos added.

The Bafana Bafana will now return home and prepare for their fourth game against Zimbabwe, on tuesday.
