Lokomotiv Moscow of Russia defender, Bryan Idowu says he is happy to finally play his first match in Nigeria, as he starred from the start in Tuesday’s match against Uganda.
After getting a rare opportunity play as a right-back for the Eagles, instead of the left-sided role he had been saddled with in all other appearances for the Nigerian team, Idowu said he was excited to finally play on home soil.
The Russia-born star debuted for Nigeria in his country of birth against Argentina, then starred in the same nation at the 2018 World Cup for the Eagles, such that finally getting the opportunity to play at home was so thrilling for him.
The former Zenit St. Petersburg and Amkar Perm of Russia defender put in a full shift in Tuesday’s goalless draw with Uganda, after which he took to social media to reveal his thoughts.
Idowu, who will still face stiff battles on both sides of Nigeria’s full back positions, posted: ”Happy to play my first game in Nigeria! Thank you Asaba.”
