Buhari Pledges Total Support For Super Eagles

Date:

President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to lend total support to the Super Eagles in their efforts to win the Africa Cup of Nations next year in Cameroon.

Footballlive.ng gathered that the president was impressed by the Eagles’ performance against South Africa on Saturday, and relished the fact that they qualified for AFCON 2019 with a match to spare.

In reaction to the achievement, A statement signed by Presidential media aide, Femi Adesina quoted Buhari with words of praise for the players and a pledge to back them fully in achieving a grand return to the continental soccer fiesta.

Buhari has congratulated the Eagles after they qualified for next year’s AFCON with 10 points from five matches, following a 1-1 draw away to South Africa on Saturday.

The president further said he is enthused by the team’s confidence, sense of patriotism and professionalism, all of which he recommended other Nigerians to emulate.

The Eagles, who have won the AFCON thrice, failed to qualify for the last two tournaments and, in their bid to make a huge impact back in the mainframe, Buhari has now promised total support to the team.

“The President joins millions of football-loving Nigerians in commending the team for their spirited and disciplined performance against a very formidable opponent which earned them qualification with the final match against Seychelles a mere formality,” the message signed by Adeshina read.
