President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to call the Super Eagles’ camp in Volgograd, Russia before their crunch second group match of this year’s World Cup against Iceland, while Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki is billed to watch the match live in the stadium.
Though the Eagles lost 2-0 to Croatia few hours after President Buhari put a similar call through to their camp in Kaliningrad, officials believe it would be a different setting this time, especially with Senator Saraki expected to visit the players physically before they line out at 4pm Nigeria time.
Also certain to be on ground to support the three-time African champions at the 45,000- capacity Volgograd Arena are Nigeria’s ambassador to Russia, Professor Steve Davies Ugbah and permanent secretary in the sports ministry, Mr. Olusade Adesola.
They will be joined by Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) president, Engineer Habu Ahmed Gumel as well as Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) executive committee members and congress leaders, led by the body’s president, Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick.
There will also be distinguished senators and members of the House of Representatives, Directors in the Ministry, former presidents and secretaries-general of the NFF and large number of Nigeria Football Supporters Club members.
