Egyptian referee Amin Mohamed Omar, who has been a FIFA official since 2017, has been selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to oversee the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Nigeria’s Super Eagles and the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.
Omar will lead an all-Egyptian officiating team that includes Mahmoud Abouelregal as Assistant Referee 1, Ahmad Hossam Taha as Assistant Referee 2, and Ahmed ElGhandour as the Fourth Official.
CAF has also designated Ghanaian official Munkaila Nassam Adam as the match commissioner, with Fatou Gaye from Senegal serving as the referee assessor. Ivorian Atte Claude Elloh has been appointed as the security officer for this encounter.
This crucial match will see Nigeria, three-time African champions, go up against a Benin Republic team coached by former Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr. The Super eagles, however, are set to be coached by Austin Eguavoen in the interim, following a breakdown in negotiations with Bruno Labbadia.
Nigeria are set to take on Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on the 7th of September, with an away game against Rwanda to be played three days after.
