CAF CC: Enugu Rangers goes eight matches unbeaten in the CAF Confederations Cup

Date:

Nigeria’s sole CAF Confederations Cup campaigners Enugu Rangers continued their unbeaten run on the continent taking it to eight games as they played out a 1 – 1 draw against CS Sfaxien of Tunisia on Wednesday at the Stade Taieb Mhiri in Tunisia.

The Nigerian based team took the game to their more illustrious opponents in the first 10 minutes of the encounter but lacked the cutting edge in the final third as they failed to connect with their lone striker Bobby Clements.

The home side took the lead in the 71st minute through Alaeddine Marzouki while it took the Flying Antelopes two minutes to get their equalizer as Pape Ousmane Sane slammed in the ball from four yards into the top corner of the net in the 73rd minute.

With the win, Enugu Rangers maintain their first position on the log after two games while CS Sfaxien is on the second position and also on four points. Etoile du Sahel is third on the table with one point after two games while bottom place Salitas of Burkina Faso sits fourth on the table with one point.

Enugu Rangers will face Etoile du Sahel in their third and fourth match of the campaign on the 24th of February in Tunisia while the return leg comes up on the third of March in Enugu.

Etoile du Sahel is without a win in the ongoing CAF Confederations group phase after losing their first match to neighbors CS Sfaxien at home before drawing away to Salitas in their second match.
