The Confederation of African Football, CAF has introduced a new trophy for its Super Cup competition, which pits the winner of the Champions League against the victor of the Confederation Cup.
The previous trophy, which had been in use for several years, was retired following consultations and discussions by African soccer’s governing body.
RS Berkane of Morocco was the last holder of the old trophy, having claimed it after defeating Egypt’s Al Ahly in the final held in Saudi Arabia last year.
CAF announced the new trophy on their official TotalEnergies CAFCL and CAFCC social media accounts, stating:
“A new era is around the corner. ❤️
Ladies and gentlemen, here are your brand-new #TotalEnergiesCAFSC trophy & identity! 🏆”
The first competitive match for the new trophy will see Egypt’s Al Ahly, the current Champions League holders, face off against Zamalek, the Confederation Cup winners, on September 27.
