NPFL side El-Kanemi Warriors, representing Nigeria in the CAF Confederation Cup, will now play their fixture against Dadje FC of Benin at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Friday.
The match was originally scheduled for Sunday but has been moved to accommodate Remo Stars, who will be playing their CAF Champions League preliminary stage match at the same venue on Sunday.
Match to be Played in Ikenne
El-Kanemi Warriors initially requested to host their home fixtures in Abuja, but this application was rejected by CAF.
They then sought permission to use the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos, but this venue was also declined by the continental football governing body. Consequently, the Warriors will now play their crucial match in Ikenne.
El-Kanemi Warriors secured their spot in the CAF Confederation Cup by winning the President’s Cup, also known as the Federation Cup.
As one of two Nigerian teams competing in CAF inter-club competitions this season, a victory over Dadje FC would mark a significant first step towards a successful campaign.
