The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has officially announced the prize money for this year’s Women’s Champions League, with a huge reward awaiting the top teams.
The tournament winner will claim a $600,000 prize, while the runners-up will receive $400,000.
Teams finishing in third and fourth place will also be rewarded with $350,000 and $300,000, respectively. Additionally, each participating team is guaranteed at least $150,000.
Nigerian champions Edo Queens are set to make their debut appearance as Nigeria’s sole representatives in the tournament.
The team departed for Casablanca, Morocco, to compete in the event, which runs from November 6 to November 23, 2024.
After arriving in Lagos on Wednesday, the Queens traveled the following day (today), filled with high hopes of bringing the trophy home.
Team captain Efemweokiekie Osakpolor says the team is determined, stating they would not only make Edo State proud but to represent the entire nation with pride at their pre-departure press conference for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
