NPFL side, Remo Stars crashed out of the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League on Sunday after losing to Moroccan side AS FAR Rabat in the first preliminary round.
The Ikenne-based team couldn’t take advantage of the first leg 2-1 victory at home. They were unable to hold off the Moroccans in the second leg, losing 2-0 in Rabat.
This resulted in a 3-2 aggregate loss, marking the third time Remo Stars have exited continental football early.
AS FAR Rabat secured their win with two second-half goals. Joel Beya, who also scored in the first leg, found the net in the 53rd minute, and a penalty by El Amine Zouhzouh sealed their victory.
This defeat means that two of Nigeria’s teams have already been knocked out of continental competitions. On Saturday, El-Kanemi Warriors FC also exited the African Confederation Cup after a 3-2 aggregate loss.
Now, only one Nigerian club remains in each of the two continental tournaments. Enyimba International FC advanced to the second preliminary round of the Confederation Cup after receiving a bye, while Rangers International FC of Enugu moved to the next round of the African Champions League with a 2-1 aggregate win in their opening round.
