Wasiu Alalade’s 94th minute strike came off a follow up on a free-kick from the Enyimba International Captain, Mfon Udoh who himself was lively throughout the duration of the tie.
Speaking to www.footballlive.ng about the atmosphere in the city following the victory, Mfon Udoh said, “It was full of joy, with victory songs everywhere and the fans were happy, Aba was happy and Nigeria was happy so we give glory to God the victory.”
He further told *footballlive * that CARA Brazzaville are a very good team that put up a really good fight and didn’t make the match easy but he was thankful that his team came up victorious very late on.
On being unfortunate with hitting the crossbar twice during the match, Mfon Udoh said, “Honestly I would have been glad to get my name on the scoresheet but the assist was good as well.”
The Enyimba International Captain went on to call on his teammates to keep the focus on the next game as looking too far ahead might not work too well for the team as they now need to focus on the quarterfinals [against Rayon Sports of Rwanda]
He concluded by praising the fans who came out to support the Aba based teams from all around Nigeria for staying patient with the team despite how late the goal came in the match.
