CCC: Ogunbote calls for maximum support

Date:

Head coach of CAF Confederation Cup hopefuls, Rangers International, Olugbenga Ogunbote has called on Nigerians to give their maximum support to the clubs representing the country in the two continental clubs competitions.

Ogunbote made this call in Enugu, Friday at an interactive session, saying that Nigeria is too big a nation in African football to have only two slots at the CAF club competitions.

“My advice and appeal to Nigerians is that they should give their maximum support to both clubs flying the country’s flag in the Champions League and Confederation Cup, Lobi Stars and Rangers, morally and psychologically to enhance their performance. With their supports and determination from the players the sky will be our limit as together we can climb mountains,” said the vastly traveled tactician.

He further stated, “It is insulting that a big football nation like Nigeria lost two slots from their four slots in the CAF club competitions but the only way to get it back is to start doing excellently well in the competitions. As for Rangers, we will always do our best to make the fans happy and by the grace of God the players, technical crew and the management will not disappoint during the competition starting from the match against Defense Force of Ethiopia.”

Rangers will on Wednesday 28th November welcome their opponent from Ethiopia, Defense Force at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium at the preliminary stage of Total/CAF Confederation cup 2018.

The Rangers gaffer said that the players have overcome the pressure associated with the Super Cup loss to Lobi Stars in Asaba on Tuesday stressing that injuries to a few of his players will in no way affect the expected result in the first leg to make the return leg a mare formality.

“It was an unfortunate loss in Asaba and our failure to win showed that we are not really prepared for the new season. Right now, we are back to the drawing board to ensure we get ready in the next four to five days to get ready for the CAF Confederation Cup and the league which has been scheduled to commence 1st December, 2018,” the former Sunshine Star and Enyimba gaffer concluded.
