Chikwelu Thanks NFF For Adequate WWC Preparations

Date:

Kristiansand DFF of Sweden midfielder, Rita Chikwelu has expressed gratitude to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for putting in place what she called adequate preparations for the female national team, Super Falcons, ahead of this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Footballlive.ng can report that Chikwelu, who is one of the Falcons’ two alternate captains, is happy with the opportunity of playing at this year’s Cyprus Women’s Cup, which is the Falcons’ second build-up outing.

It comes hot on the heels of a trip in January to China for a similar competition, and the Swedish Damallsvenskan star, who previously played for Umeå IK, says the Falcons are going for serious business.

Chikwelu, who played a key role in guiding the Falcons to the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations title last year, enthused that the invitational in Cyprus will help them stay focused ahead of the World Cup in France.

She pledged that the Falcons will not just got to Cyprus and make up the numbers, as they want to compete very well and end up on top of all the other competing countries.

Chikwelu stressed: “We are going for the Cyprus Cup to participate and compete very well with other countries.

“I want to assure our fans and Nigerians that we are not just  going there to make up numbers but we are going there to make a huge difference.

“We are happy as a team and as individuals that we are going for the Cyprus Cup tournament for the first time.

“It’s  a good preparation for us ahead of the World Cup. I want to say a big thank you to NFF for ensuring that we have good preparation ahead of the World Cup.”
