Chuba Akpom Returns To Arsenal For Pre-season

Nigerian-born attacker, Chuba Akpom has returned to Arsenal of England for pre-season training and drill with The Gunners, at the start of their preparations of a new campaign.

The 22-year old attacker, who spent the second part of last season with Saint-Truiden of Belgium, was back in training with the first team, as the new manager, Unai Emery held his first training session at the club on Tuesday.

Akpom has long been touted for a crack in the first team during the Arsene Wenger days and having impressed with The Canaries in the Belgian topflight last term.

During that spell he scored six goals, and will want to create an impression as the new man at the helm prepares a team for the new season.

Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi who took part in the Russia World Cup tournament has yet to return to club duties and will join on a later date while Kelechi Nwakali is set for a loan switch to Portuguese side, FC Porto.

The Hale End Academy product alongside Iwobi and Nwakali make up the host of Nigerian contingent at Emirates Stadium, along with Folarin Balogun, Xavier Amaechi, Bukayo Saka, James Olayinka, Joseph Olowu and Tolaji Bola.
