Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup revelation, Samuel Chukwueze is edging closer to a first team spot with Villarreal of Spain, following his inclusion in their pre-season programme.
Chukwueze has been knocking on the door of first team action at The Yellow Submarine, and now looks set to finally make his bow, following his emergence among the first team players of the Spanish La Liga side, ahead of the start of next season.
Chukwueze will now aim to follow in the illustrious footsteps of former Super Eagles’ top striker, Ikechukwu Uche, who was some years back a key player for Villarreal.
This comes after he took the Spanish third division play-offs by storm with a superb show for Villarreal’s B-team, and he has been rewarded with a new contract at the club.
Few days after opening discussions with Chukwueze’s agent over a new deal for the lad, the club confirmed that the 19-year-old will step up to the main team for pre-season training.
Subsequently, Chukwueze’s buyout clause of €10m will be increased, as Villarreal aim to keep off transfer interest for the left footed fast-rising star, who joined the club a year ago from a youth football academy in Nigeria.
