Chukwueze Gets Anxious After Favourite Coach’s Sack

Date:

Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze is bound to get anxious over the shape of his future in the club, following the sack of the coach that gave him a breakthrough with The Yellow Submarine.

Chukwueze has blossomed under Javi Calleja at the Spanish top-flight side but, with Villarreal struggling so far this season, footballlive.ng reports that the gaffer was sent packing on Monday.

It means Chukwueze will now have to adapt to new tactics under the next manager, and fancy if he would still be rated on the same scale as he got from Calleja.

The waiting game is on for Chukwueze, as Villarreal sacked Calleja with the club just three points above the relegation zone in La Liga.

The former Villarreal midfielder took over as coach in September 2017, leading the Yellow Submarine to a fifth-placed finish and Europa League football last season.

However, this campaign the club has struggled, winning just once in La Liga since September and progress through to the knockout stages in Europe is still in the balance.

The successor to Chukwueze’s main man has not yet been named, but the club have suggested one will be appointed in the coming hours.

Chukwueze’s club stated: “Villarreal has decided to rescind Javi Callejas contract as first-team coach. The club would like to thank the coach for his work, dedication and professionalism since taking over last season.”
