Chukwueze Targets Starting Shirt Against South Africa

Villarreal of Spain youngster, Samuel Chukwueze appears to be aiming at a starting shirt with the Super Eagles, as the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup revelation says he is determined to make the best of his first senior national team invitation.

 

Although he would be a rookie when the camp opens in preparation for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier away to South Africa and international friendly at home against Uganda, footballlive.ng can report that Chukwueze plans to hit the ground running on arrival.

Chukwueze said he is happy with his first ever invitation to the Eagles, which he says is a huge boost tom his fledgling career, and admitted that he will now have to prove his mettle during training and justify his inclusion in the roster that was announced on Monday.

The Diamond Academy of Umuahia product, who was sought by EPL side, Arsenal before his move to Spain, said he is now hoping that his call-up with boost his chances with his La Liga and help his career.

“I give God the glory for making my dream a huge reality before my eyes. I also pray for a better opportunity and more playing time.

“(It’s a big progress for me) considering how I started from the under-20 side in Villarreal to their team-B and then to the main team.”
