Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze might be priced out of any liukely transfer soon, as officials at his La Lga club are mooting an idea of taking his buy-out clause to a mammoth €80m.
With several top clubs across Europe, including Atletico Madrid of Spain and Arsenal of England, said to be in the hunt for Chukwueze’s signature, footballlive.ng learnt Villarreal are now getting desperate to keep the youngster.
The new valuation of €80m might be considered outlandish by transfer market watchers, but that is exactly the point The Yellow Submarine aim to achieve in their efforts to keep Chukwueze.
It is another bold move by the club, who in the summer of 2017 added more weight to their grip on Chukwueze, by tying the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup revelation and gold medalist down to a long-term contract that is billed to run until 2023.
Villarreal are not batting any eyelid in their efforts to keep a stronghold on the Diamond Football Academy of Umuahia product, who they bought for just €500,000 and his initial buy-out clause was €5m.
However, the former team of ex-Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche have since jerked Chukwueze’s clause up to €40m.
Villarreal argue that Chukwueze’s market value has to be commensurate with his form, and the feel unabashed to seek €80m for his transfer, due to his recent exploits for club and country.
Subsequently, a fee in the region of €80m has been proposed, along with a pay rise, to make him comfortable in the team and place him beyond all suitors for now, or give the club a huge profit if they are to lose him.
