Cole Palmer Leads PFA Player of the Year Shortlist

Date:

Cole Palmer, the only nominee in contention for both the Young Player of the Year and the main award has being shortlisted in the PFA Player of the Year Award.

The Blues main man joined the team from Manchester city a season ago and shined, scoring 22 goals and provided 11 assists in his debut season at Chelsea.

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, and Rodri headline the shortlist for the PFA Men’s Player of the Year award, announced on Tuesday.

The trio is joined by Arsenal’s Martin Ødegaard, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, and Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, who helped his club qualify for the Champions League for the first time since the 1982-83 season.

Haaland, who claimed his second consecutive Golden Boot with 27 league goals, and Foden, already the Premier League’s Player of the Season, are strong contenders alongside Rodri, who enjoyed an historic 74-game unbeaten run for club and country until the 2-1 loss to Manchester United in FA Cup final.

On the women’s side, Lauren James, Erin Cuthbert, and Khadija “Bunny” Shaw are among the nominees for the Women’s PFA Player of the Year.

James, Cuthbert, and Niamh Charles contributed to Chelsea’s fifth consecutive Women’s Super League title, while Shaw led the league with 22 goals, helping Manchester City push the title race to the final day.

The winners of these awards will be announced on August 20.
