Football mascots are supposed to be adorable and significantly relate-able to the team’s identity – the spirit of the City or Country – or something close.
In the Nigerian top flight, the culture of mascots may have not really caught on and a sighting of what the Port Harcourt-based club adopted is hilarious.
Sports Journalist China Acheru tweeted a picture of what is supposed to be the Rivers United mascot for the season.
An inscription on the mascot read: Up Rivers United -the latter phrase we assumed – Up Governor Wike.
On a scale of Amazing to Terrible, this one is incredibly shocking!
