Rangers manager, Philippe Clement is satisfied with Cyriel Dessers following the striker’s performance in the club’s 2-1 victory over St Mirren on Sunday.
The 29-year-old began the match on the bench after sustaining an eye injury during Rangers’ 4-0 triumph over FC Steaua București in the UEFA Europa League last Thursday.
However, with the score level at 1-1 at halftime, Clement introduced the Nigerian forward to inject energy and bolster Rangers’ attack.
The decision proved effective, as Cyriel Dessers made an immediate impact by setting up Václav Černý for the winning goal just 20 minutes after coming on.
“It was a good performance after a European night. We could have scored more than two goals but the opponent’s goalkeeper was really strong and with Cyriel, he was really active.”
”He showed his big heart on Thursday and he did that again today. He loves the club and wants to give everything to get results. A striker not only scores but also helps the team by providing assists.”
“The second goal shows the hunger and passion Cyriel has to win games here and he gives everything for that so I’m really happy.”
“The way he came onto the pitch is what I expect from every player who comes on, to give us that extra energy and that needs to be our strength in the next couple of months.”
The Nigeria international has now registered eight goals in 16 appearances for Rangers this season.
