Enyimba International midfield enforcer Dare Ojo has attributed the team’s Aiteo Cup quarter final elimination in the hands of Kano Pillars to fatigue
The People’s Elephant’s hopes of securing a passage to the CAF Confederations Cup came to an end as they lost 4 – 2 to Pillars in Gombe.
Enyimba drew first blood in the 16th minute courtesy of Chukwudi Stephen only to be shocked by the more energized Pillars who replied with four goals through veteran Rabiu Ali, Chris Madaki, Ifeanyi Nweke and Nwagua Nyima before Adetunji Sunday got Enyimba’s second goal of the match in the 95th minute.
Ojo who started the match insist that the result would have been different if the team had had enough time to rest and recuperate. “The major problem for us was fatigue, playing the CAF Confederations Cup semi final against Raja Cassablanca in Aba and travelling for two days to Gombe to play a solid side like Kano Pillars took a toll on the team.
I’m not taking anything away from Kano Pillars because we know right from time that they are a good side but being on the road for two day will always affect you.”
