Deja Vu! History favors South Africa over Nigeria on November 17

On November 17 when South Africa hosts Nigeria in the second-leg 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier it will be exactly 14 years since Bafana’s first ever win over the Super Eagles.

It was November 17, 2004 in Johannesburg and both countries would meet for the fifth time in an official match.

 

This occasion was a friendly match and Bafana were seeking their first win over Nigeria.

The Eagles had dominated the previous meetings with three wins and a draw from four.

 

However, this time around South Africa came out better with Shaun Bartlett and Benedict Vilakazi inspiring the team to a 2-1 victory.

 

The date was November 17, 2004 in Johannesburg.

The next meeting between the two Countries has been scheduled for November 17, 2018 at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
