Dele Bashiru Reveals Man City Legend as His Football Idol

Date:

Super Eagles and newly signed Lazio player Dele Bashiru has revealed his football idol.

Bashiru, who completed a move to Lazio from Hatayspor last weekend, has surprisingly named former Ivorian international Yaya Toure as his idol.

In his first interview on Tuesday since joining the club, the 23-year-old stated:

“I ask the fans to support us as much as possible. I will give 100% to give them a positive season. My idol has always been Yaya Toure.

I try to replicate his way of being on the pitch and I consider myself a box-to-box midfielder. I like running and shooting. I hope that my characteristics can marry with Serie A.

I have seen a few games of Baroni’s Verona and I like his game.”

Bashiru also mentioned that he already knew his next destination when Lazio first showed interest in him

“The club first showed interest in me in January, but at that point, I was just focused on finishing the season with Hatayspor. Subconsciously, however, I already knew what I wanted and that this was the next destination, he concluded”
