Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have promised that the government of Delta State will make The Pharaohs of Egypt happy before, during and after their international friendly against the Super Eagles in Asaba.
Footballlive.ng gathered that the NFF and Delta State officials are already putting heads together on plans for the match, which is billed for March 26 at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, with the host government set to pick all bills for the game and take care of the visitors’ welfare.
Although Eagles coach, Gernot Gernot is not satisfied with the quality of the pitch, the NFF opted for Asaba because Delta State government has promised to bankroll the game.
It was learnt further that, although the NFF are yet to get a response from world soccer governing body, FIFA, over their request for formal approval of the game, Delta State has already set plans in motion to pay for the visitors flight, accommodation, appearance fee and other needs.
A top source at The Glasshouse further disclosed that both country’s football federations have also reached an agreement to present all their star players and main team squads for the high-profile fixture.
It means Egypt, who stopped Nigeria from qualifying for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and were last week named hosts of this year’s edition, will be in the Delta State capital with Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah et al.
The credible source added: “Since (Delta) State has accepted to host matches involving the team for now, who are we to say no?
“We all know what goes into a game as regards the financial implication. Delta for now has been taking care of that on behalf of the federation.”
